FWIW
Contrast with Aliso Canyon near Los Angeles. The big gas leak. After an unconcionable delay, what happened? The utility started paying all the bills for hotels, rented homes, moving whole student bodies from one place to another for daily classes. BTW kudos to LAUSD who stepped up fast and well.

Three guesses what the demographics are.

Effect on local community[edit]
Local residents have reported headaches, nausea, and severe nosebleeds.[2] About 50 children per day saw schoolnurses for severe nosebleeding.[17] There have been more eye, ear and throat infections.[10] By December 25, 2015 more than 2,200 families from the “affluent Porter Ranch neighborhood in northern Los Angeles”[11] had been temporarily relocated, and more than 2,500 households were still being processed.[20] As of January 7, 2016, 2,824 households or about 11,296 people had been temporarily relocated by SoCal Gas.[16] while more than 6,500 families have filed for help.[23] Two schools were to be relocated in January.[7]

re: #1 Great White Snark

The point of view of others is usually is determined on where you are standing. This shit goes on every day across the USA, but this is a deliberate attempt to save money regardless of the actual cost. My family lived in a town whose well water was polluted from a leaking gasoline tank at a convenience store. They couldn’t even give actual gallons lost. What inventory? And to top it off, after we were poisoned for months, they sent in US Army “water buffalos” which were cleaned with iodine, AND NEVER RINSED before filling them and setting them up in town. This is a crime against humanity, and nothing else. In this nation, this should never happen. Money will be thrown at people, lawyers will get rich, and people will go back to sleep. And the cost to life and limb will never be truly compensated. A crime.
You bet the water played a part in health issues.
